The first step after choosing the couple who may need IVF treatment, after proper counselling, ovarian stimulation done using gonadotrophic hormones, as per the age, BMI and hormonal milieu interior of the wife. Egg pick up is planned after maturation follicle reach the threshold dimension. It is done by the clinical ART experts under mild IV anaesthesia, using specialized Imported needle, suction equipment and culture medium solution.
Ovarian Stimulation
Normally, a woman after attaining menarche will produce one egg per month around 14th day after menstrual period. For In Vitro fertilisation & embryo Culture program, one egg may not suffice and the whole procedure and success depend on the number and quality of the eggs obtained. So, we hyper stimulate the ovaries in a safe manner using a method called controlled ovarian hyperstimulation by “Down Regulation” under long protocol or short protocol (Agonist / Antagonist). After downregulating the system, we give Hormone injections of International Quality e.g., Recombinant FSH, Recombinant LH, highly purified FSH, HMG, etc which helps the wife to produce more number of better quality eggs. The dose depends on the age, weight and the Basal hormonal status of the women.
IVF Egg Pick up Procedure
The egg retrieval process is a quick, minimally invasive procedure performed under IV sedation, ensuring no harm to the eggs.
Procedure: Using an ultrasound-guided transvaginal probe, a fine needle punctures the follicles to aspirate the eggs. This needle system has two ports—one for gently aspirating follicular fluid and another for flushing follicles with a special medium. The system is connected to a low-power suction motor to ensure delicate handling.
Egg Handling: The retrieved fluid is sent to the IVF lab, where an embryologist identifies and separates the eggs under a stereozoom microscope. The eggs are then placed in a nutritious culture medium inside an incubator until fertilization.
Environment: The procedure is conducted in a sterile, temperature-controlled (37°C) laminar flow workstation with an ideal gas mixture to maintain egg viability.
Time: 30 minutes Pain/Bleeding: Minimal
Embryo Culture
From the follicular fluid obtained from the egg pick up procedure , mature eggs are picked up and after specific incubation period in side the Tri gas Incubators, either conventional IVF or ICSI is planned. For culturing embryos until Day 5 , we need three essential gases – Oxygen, Carbon di Oxide and Nitrogen used in Bench top incubators , in the culture medium containing all essential nutrients to nourish and help to grow the embryos in stages. Specific Mouse embryo tested utensils are used in the lab for embryo culture which are imported from UK, USA and Australia.
